Our Background & Reasoning
With the Bluegrass’ push to welcome the Equestrian Games and its 600,000+ guests to the area, one large problem has become very apparent: Where are all these people going to stay? Hotel rooms are already booked to capacity for the four weeks surrounding the event, and it is expected that people coming to the event will be staying as far away as Knoxville, Tennessee!
Keeping this in mind, five friends started a Lexington-based company solving this housing issue, WEG Home Rentals.com. Their goal is to help accommodate the influx of equine enthusiasts to the Bluegrass during the WEG, while giving back to the equine industry, and allowing area homeowners to make extra money during the Games.
Our Advantages
- WEG HOME RENTALS.COM is a website where local home-owners can post their properties for rent during the World Equestrian Games, and in turn be matched with enthusiasts and participants in search of a place to stay in the Bluegrass for the event. Unlike our competitors, we don't receive any commission if you rent your house: we let you retain all the profit.
- It is very inexpensive to list a property on the World Equestrian Home Rentals website, while the return homeowners can receive for renting their home is significant.
- WEG HOME RENTALS.COM will aggressively market your local property listings to the visitors and participants arriving for the games. With extensive marketing research already completed, we know the most effective way to target this audience. These avenues include running ads, featuring listings and publishing articles in related periodicals and events, nationally and internationally.
- HOME SWAP options are also available; allowing local home-owners to “swap” homes with visitors to the area. For example, a local family can “exchange” their Chevy Chase home for a home in France for three weeks.

Giving Back To Our Community
- For every property listed on the website, we will donate $20 to the Kentucky Equine Humane Center. This is just one of the ways we are giving back to the equine industry and the Bluegrass.
- Commission Programs Available - To continue giving back to our community, we have instituted a few commission programs for the public to become involved, and make a little extra money for themselves. Rental Advantages
- Most often that not, private vacation / home rentals offer substantially more room than the normal hotel room down the road; not to mention, you will often get them at a reduced cost. By renting an actual 'property', families and guests that vacation together are more comfortable, and have some 'room to move'.
- Private home and property rentals offer more flexibility and amenities. Unlike a general hotel room, almost all vacation rentals include kitchen facilities. By renting a property for the World Equestrian Games, you won't be forced to eat out for every meal (but of course when you are in the Bluegrass, you will want to try all the local fare!).
